Definition: The language of the soundtrack for a motion picture or video recording.

 

Purpose: Indicates the language of the specific occurrence of the audiovisual item.

 

Relationship: This element is dependent on Media Type. Each media occurrence of the archival materials must have a media type specified to create Soundtrack Language.

 

Guidance:

Choose the appropriate language from the Language Authority List. The Language Authority List is based on the MARC Language Code List.

If a film has multiple soundtracks in different languages, each version would be described as a separate media type and the appropriate language designated.

If the soundtrack language matches what is indicated in Language, then do not repeat it here. Instead, leave this element empty.

Do not enter "English." It is the implied language.
