Classification 102: Voorhis Act

This classification was established on June 21, 1942. The Voorhis Act, Title 18 of U.S.Code, Section 1386, adopted in 1939, required registration of certain organizations subject to foreign control that advocated the overthrow of the United States government. Prior to October 1942 a new case was opened in this classification for each organization investigated in connection with the Voorhis Act. After that date, a new case was opened in this classification only if the organization investigated did not have a case file relating to it in another classification already established, such as Classification 100: Domestic Security.
