Classification 110: Foreign Economic Matters
This classification was established in 1944 for files containing information on economic conditions in foreign countries. The classification is divided into subsections pertaining to individual countries. The files are informational in nature, not investigative, and collect data from a variety of sources, including Bureau legal attachés, the Department of State, and the Central Intelligence Agency. The records relate to such concerns as anti-American sentiments among foreign businesses, smuggling activities, efforts by businesses to circumvent the Proclaimed List during World War II, and the flight of German capital abroad at the end of the war.
