Logbooks of the Vessels of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (and US Coast and Geodetic Survey)

Logbooks of US Government vessels charged with hydrographic and oceanographic surveys and studies may be found primarily in three series all located at our Archives II facility in College Park, Maryland. These logs, with some variance, include daily entries of the ship's position, weather conditions, remarks on the status of each department of the ship, notations of any mechanical problems or unusual weather conditions, and descriptions of the day's hydrographic and oceanographic surveying activities. Links to those series descriptions are below, and series lists are forthcoming.
