Missing Presidential Pardon of Zachary Taylor

12th President of the United States, 1849-1850

The following pardon was stolen from the National Archives-Philadelphia by  Shawn Aubitz in 2002. It was signed by the President of the United States, then docketed and filed by a U.S. District Court in the mid-Atlantic Region. It is not the Presidential Authority to the Secretary of State to Affix the Seal to a Warrant for Pardon.

 

Pardoned: William H. Green on April 9, 1849

Filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland
Green was convicted of an assault on the high seas. Signed by President Zachary Taylor and Secretary of State John M. Clayton.
