Jill Reilly

Jill Reilly is NARA's Acting Chief Innovation Officer since January 2025. Previously, Jill was the Digital Engagement Director in the Office of Innovation. She led the National Archives Catalog technical, description, and metadata standards and authorities programs, in addition to artificial intelligence pilots related to description, search and information retrieval, and transcription.

Jill began her career at NARA in 2004 as a member of the Catalog team and starting in 2009 she managed NARA’s early social media pilots and initiatives. Between 2012 and 2021, she served as the Director of ED.gov at the US Department of Education, the Digital Resources Chief at the Law Library of Congress, and the Associate Director for Information Products at the US Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Library. She had the opportunity to complete a leadership detail assignment as Acting Associate Chief Information Officer with NARA’s Information Services, before returning to the Office of Innovation in 2021.

Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Delaware, where she became a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She has a master of library science degree in archival administration and a master of arts in U.S. history from the University of Maryland in College Park. She earned a graduate certificate in government executive leadership from American University.
