Acting Director, Preservation Programs

Sarah Stauderman is the Acting Director of Preservation Programs, which provides the policies and services to preserve NARA's holdings for current and future users through preservation actions, conservation treatment, and materials research. Sarah joined NARA in 2021 as Deputy Director, Preservation Programs to manage preservation services to Presidential Libraries, Field Archives, and Federal Records Centers, as well as the operations of the conservation laboratories at Archives I and II. From 2000-2021, Sarah held multiple positions at the Smithsonian Institution, including the Smithsonian Institution Archives and the Hirshhorn Museum, where she was responsible for collections preservation and management for the wide range of materials found in archives and contemporary art museums such as paper, photographs, paintings, sculpture and electronic media, such as video and audiotape. 

Sarah has a B.A. in History from Amherst College and an M.A. in Art Conservation with a certificate in paper conservation from Buffalo State University.
