Artemas Ward (1727 –1800) was an American major general in the American Revolutionary War and a delegate to the Continental Congress and later a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Massachusetts (1791-1795). The personal and family papers give insight into the military history of the early days of the Revolution before Washington took command, and they include correspondence, business papers, and documents relating to Shays’ Rebellion, a diary of the Ticonderoga campaign, an orderly book, and Ward family correspondence.
