The National Archives Building is located between Seventh and Ninth Streets, NW, with entrances on Pennsylvania and Constitution Avenues.

Please Note:

  • The research entrance to the building is on Pennsylvania Avenue.
  • The Rotunda entrance, which includes the Exhibit Hall, is on Constitution Avenue.

Both the Pennsylvania Avenue and Constitution Avenue entrances are wheelchair-accessible.

Parking is not available to the general public on site. There are numerous public parking garages located within the vicinity.

The Metrorail System in Washington D.C. serves the National Archives at the Archives/Navy Memorial station. Take the elevator leading to the street entrance, which is conveniently located across the street from the wheelchair-accessible Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W. entrance. 


Free Staff shuttle bus between the Washington, DC and College Park, MD National Archives buildings:

  • Monday through Friday only
  • Depart Washington, DC:   8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on the hour
    • Pick up at the National Archives bus shelter located on 7th Street between Pennsylvania and Constitution Avenues, NW.
  • Depart College Park:   8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on the hour
    • Pick up in front of the building.
  • Researchers may use it on a space available basis.

The Café in the National Archives Building at Washington, DC, is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There are also vending machines in the basement, and a small area with seating.
