The papers, complete in two volumes, of the Virginia Gazette Daybooks include the daily transactions of this Williamsburg newspaper printing office. The office served as the colony’s bookseller, and among the most interesting entries are those describing the purchase of books, the prices paid, and the purchasers. The Virginia Gazette office also served as Williamsburg’s post office, and the entries for postage to various places are prominent in the daybooks.
