Early Reservation Maps. Map of the Chehalis Reservation, dated July 9, 1864.

This record is of an early map of the Chehalis Reservation from July 9, 1864, that covers T16N R4W. This map is linen and hand-drawn and documents the establishment of the reservation at the confluence of the Chehalis and Black Rivers. This series contains correspondence, executive orders, field notes, and maps that document the establishment and enlargement of numerous other reservations in Washington Territory. 

The National Archives at Seattle holds countless records pertaining to indigenous communities in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. These records typically document land boundary changes, irrigation and other public works projects, or correspondence/litigation surrounding native fishing or hunting rights.
