The Presidential Libraries memberships offer discounts and advance notice of upcoming events. Contact the Library directly to see if they have membership opportunities.

Internships may be available at Presidential Libraries located across the country. Opportunities are varied and provide workplace-based learning for a wide range of career and educational goals. A sampling of possible internships: 

  • Archival Processing - Assist staff in arranging holdings, performing preservation measures, and preparing finding aids and indexes.
  • Museum and/or Public Programs - Assist museum and/or public programs staff in a variety of assignments relating to tours, educational programs, and curatorial activities.
  • Reference  - Assist staff in providing reference services on textual and audiovisual materials to the public by mail, by telephone, and in person.

Volunteers at the Presidential Libraries and Museums serve a variety of functions including:

  • Museum docents provide museum tours and visitor assistance to over 1 million visitors each year.
  • Volunteers also work with library holdings, including textual records, audiovisual materials, oral history transcripts, and museum artifacts, by assisting with archival and curatorial projects.
  • By answering telephones and preparing general information and educational mailings, volunteers provide invaluable support to the library staff and allow the libraries to serve the public in a more timely and courteous manner.
  • Volunteers work in educational outreach programs, traveling to schools and nursing homes to present historical dramas, and educational workshops and informational slideshows.
