Record Group 22: Aerial Photographs, 1948 - 1966

This series consists of oversized 199 black and white aerial photographs of the Newlands Project and pre-refuge creation in Churchill County, Lahontan Valley wetlands, Nevada. The finding aid for the series available at NARA at San Francisco.

 

Record Group 22: Subject Files, 1942 - 1946

These records originated from the War Production Board’s Pacific Pilchard Administrator office in San Francisco, which coordinated pilchard fishing and sardine canning operations during the war. Record Group 95: Aerial Photographs, 1951 - 1977

This series contains aerial photographs taken during various projects, including timber surveys of sugar pine delineation (1951) and post-fire surveys (Mosquito and Virginia Fires, 1960 and Babcock Fire, 1977). Materials include black and white photographs, rolls of infrared film and aerial photography indexes. Record Group 95: Forest Management Research Records, 1901 - 1976

This series consists of programmatic and administrative records, forest mensuration data, regeneration research papers (planting, nursery and seedling), insect control studies, and reports on silvicultural practices. Mensuration data includes stem analysis and fell-tree measurements of various tree species with a large portion focused on Douglas fir. Data and analysis cover various forests throughout California. Record Group 95: Project Atlases, 1930 - 1951

The records in this series consist of oversize volumes containing black and white photographs, aerial photographs, US Geological Survey quadrangles and raw data. Materials also documented are surveys and other projects conducted by the Research Station. The topics primarily include fire control, and erosion and flood control. Other subjects include forest and vegetation zones, revegetation plots, rain fall and meteorological data. Record Group 95: Timber Management Records, 1914 - 1967

This series contains timber plot surveys, aerial photographs with notations, and reference publications related to timber research and management. Materials include typescript presentations (1934-1942) by C.W. Corson, regional planting inspector, concerning reforestation research and methods.

 

Record Group 95: Timber Management Records, 1974 - 2000

The records in this series consist of timber sale contracts and environmental assessments. Accessions 95-00-003 and 95-00-019 include ranger districts McCloud, Mt. Shasta, Shasta Lake, Big Bar, Yolla Bolla, Hayfork, and Weaverville. Some files contain maps, road plans, and photographs. Record Group 181: General Correspondence, 1940 - 1951

The records cover all aspects of shipyard activities, with a primary focus on administration and supply. Of particular interest are monthly intelligence reports on civilian morale in Hawaii during World War II; correspondence and photographs relating to the salvage of sunken battleships following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor; and damage reports on vessels involved in major naval battles such as Guadalcanal and Okinawa. The finding aid for the series available at NARA at San Francisco. Record 181: Historical Shipyard Photographs, 1940 - 1974

The photographs document the repair and refitting of naval vessels, other shipyard activities, and shipyard facilities and personnel. The series includes photographs documenting activities in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, when the shipyard was owned and operated by Union Iron Works and Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation. Also included is a a file relating to a case heard in the Superior Court of the State of California for the City and County of San Francisco regarding air and water pollution at the shipyard, 1970-1972. The finding aid for the series available at NARA at San Francisco. Record Group 434: Photographs, 1931 - 1984

This series contains visuals materials in five media formats. The first, small formats, includes color and black and white photographs, portrait photographs, albums, and some negatives. Subjects include: the Nobel Prize ceremony, Synchrotron party, Smithsonian Institution "Atom Smasher" exhibition; 184-inch Cyclotron; Los Alamos award ceremony; Operation Redwing; "Atom-Smasher" mousetrap gadget; Bevatron; Linac; and national laboratories. The albums depict cyclotron development at the Radiation Laboratory. Large formats includes color and black and white photographs, portrait and group photographs, aerial views, albums, and photographic slicks. Subject include director conferences, symposia, commemorative and anniversary events, visiting scientists and dignitaries, early Lawrence cyclotron, accelerator beams, desert landscapes. This series also includes portraits of scientists, 1948-1968. Photographic slicks of key federal documents in Laboratory history, and electronic engineering projects are also included. The album documents cyclotron development. Photographs also include Queen Fredericka of Greece, Prince Phillip, President John F. Kennedy, President Lyndon B. Johnson, John and Ernest Lawrence, Paul Aebersold, Donald Cooksey, Edwin McMillan, and Edward Lofgren, along with some group photographs.
