Still Pictures Aerial Photography in Record Group 270: Records of the War Assets Administration

Photographs of Real Property Assets, 1946 - 1949 (270-RP)

The prints in this series show the real property or real estate assets of the War Assets Administration (WAA). Besides such straightforward views of plants some variety is provided, such as prints from the town of Dragerton, Utah. These show aerial views of the school, church, Standard Oil service station, business block, theater, 100-man dormitory and ballpark. In another instance the Darr School of Aeronautics is shown in a variety of views including the canteen, hangar, mess halls, class room building and garage. A housing project in Nicaro, Cuba is shown as part of a metallurgical plant. A wide selection of companies and firms is included in this series, some examples are- The American Propeller Corporation, Barr Typewriter Corporation, Bendix Aviation Corporation, Boeing Airplane Company, Chrysler Corporation, Dow Chemical Company, Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, Humble Oil and Refining Company, Lockheed Aircraft Corporation, Moser Jewel Company, Pacific Car and Foundry Company, Packard Motor Car Company, United Distillers of America, Ltd., Victor Adding Machine Company and Western Railroad Company. Except for a "Real Property-Miscellaneous" section the 4"x5" prints mounted on 5"x8" mounts, are arranged in Plant Contract ("Plancor") number order. For further identification, refer to the finding aid folder for an alphabetical list of company names converted from Plant Contract number order. It should be noted that for this series, there are only scattered negatives.
